KESH announces tender to meet energy supply

The Albanian Power Corporation has opened a bid for the import of electricity a few days after the World Bank authorized a loan of $ 22.4 million for energy purchases.

The interested companies have a deadline until August 29 to present their bids.

Referring to the official offer request, KESH will buy 129,600 megawatts of energy from June 1 to June 30,

KESH has to provide only one part of the import energy for September in order to fully guarantee consumption in the country.

Meanwhile, for the two months of summer, July and August, OSHEE has paid 53.6 million euros in total for the purchase of electricity.

The preferred criterion will be the lowest price, referring to the bidding offer published on KESH’s website.

The funding of 22.4 million euro is part of the 150m-euro loan granted by the World Bank in 2014 to finance the reform of the country’s energy sector.

Last week, the Albanian government raised the fund for energy imports by ALL 3 billion, or $ 26.7 million, to a total of 4.5 billion ALL.

Because of the drought that has affected the country, production capacities in the main hydropower plants in the country have been significantly reduced.
