TAP Confirms Plan Despite E.ON, Total Withdrawal

Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) sent a clear message on Thursday: despite some difficulties, the project will make its way from Turkey to Southern Italy. According to a press release, TAP has issued a contract notice for two compressor stations, one in Greece and one in Albania.

‘TAP is continuing its pre-qualification of potential suppliers for the construction of the 870km-long high pressure natural gas pipeline with its associated infrastructure across Greece, Albania, and Adriatic Sea with landfall in Southern Italy,’ reads a note released on Thursday.

This is particularly relevant in a moment major players like France’s Total and Germany’s E.ON are withdrawing from the project. Total and E.ON currently hold 10% and 9% shares, respectively, in the project.

‘The scope for this contract will include the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of one compressor station in Albania near Fier, and one compressor station in Greece near Kipoi (with fiscal metering.’

TAP also confirmed it will soon issue contract notices for Turbo Compressors and Large Diameter Valves.
