TAP submits its bid to Shah Deniz Consortium

On Saturday, 1st of October 2011, TAP submitted our proposal to transport 10 billion cubic metres of gas a year from the giant Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan to the energy markets of Europe.
This weekend marked an historic moment for the TAP project. On Saturday, 1st of October 2011, we submitted our  proposal to transport 10 billion cubic metres of gas a year from the giant Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan to the energy markets of Europe. By opening up the Southern Gas Corridor, TAP would help bring the new sources of gas from the Caspian region that will ensure  Europe’s security of supply.
We believe that ours is a winning bid, being the only project that consistently meets  each one of the eight  stringent criteria set by  the Shah Deniz Consortium for a sound and sustainable solution to their needs. TAP not only offers the best method of delivering Caspian gas to European markets.  It is also the shortest and most financially viable of the proposed options, is scalable and provides an efficient and cost-effective means of realising the increasing volumes of gas from the Caspian – and further afield – as they become available.
