TAP concludes 60% of work in Albania and Greece

The construction of the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline is proceeding at a rapid pace.

TAP announced on Tuesday that it has completed work on welding and joining for around 60% of pipes passing through Albania and Greece.

This means that they have already completed 458 kilometers out of 765 kilometers where the gas pipeline will lay in both countries.

Meanwhile, Albgaz, the 100% public-owned Albanian company targeting the operation of the entire gas distribution in the country, told the Azerbaijani media Trend that it is in negotiations with the TAP consortium to provide maintenance service in the Albanian section of the pipeline.

According to Albgaz, the agreement with TAP AG is likely to be concluded this year.

Earlier this year, in April, Albgaz signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a joint venture with Greek natural gas transmission operator DESFA to maintain TAP in Albania.

Now Albgaz states that it will not rush to take such an initiative with anyone without getting first all the details of the works, operations, maintenance, strategy and philosophy from TAP.
