Greece Grants TAP 50-year Licence

Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) has been awarded a 50-year licence for an Independent Natural Gas System (INGS) in Greece, reads a statement of the project to transport gas from Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan to Europe.

‘The INGS license gives TAP the necessary approval for activities related to the construction of the pipeline such as installation of the pipeline, compressor and metering stations, block valve stations and other equipment.’

According to the company, Greece’s Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) granted the licences on September 5.

TAP’s shareholding is comprised of BP (20%), SOCAR (20%), Statoil (20%), Fluxys (16%), Total (10%), E.ON (9%) and Axpo (5%).

Earlier this month, Greece’s Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change gave formal approval and signed the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) submitted by Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) for the Greek section of the pipeline.
