Macedonia approves the Draft Energy Balance for 2013-2017

Next year Macedonia will consume 81.897 TJ energy. There will be growth of the consumption for all types of energy and energy sources and largest in relation to 2012 will be for the natural gas with 27,7 percent after which follow the oil derivates with 8,3 and the geothermal energy with 6,9 percent envisages the Draft Energy Balance for 2013.
“It is expected in 2013 to have continuous and safe supply of energy for all of the consumers. Of the total needs for energy 52,2 percent will be secured from domestic resources and 47,8 percent from import, informs the Minister of Economy Valon Saraqini on today’s session of the Macedonian Energy Association (MEA) in the Chamber of Commerce of Macedonia.
It is planned, he added, the total needs of electricity for the next year to present 9.028 GWh which is for 2,6 percent more in relation to this year. From them 76,5 percent will be secured from domestic generation and the rest of 23,5 percent from import.
“The generation of electricity in 2013 is expected to be at level of 6.907 GWh which is 7,4 percent larger in relation to 2012. It is due to the announced increase of generation in TE-TO Skopje”, stated Saraqini.
The thermal power plants, he emphasized, will generate 4.823 GWh or 72 percent of the total electricity in the state and is planned for the hydro power plants to generate 1.088 GWh or 15,7 percent of the total generation.
“The net import of electricity in 2013 is planned to be for 10,5 percent smaller in relations to this year and to present 2.121 GWh. Reason being the announced generation of TE-TO. The losses of electricity are planned to present 1.308 GWh and to be smaller for 2,5 percent in relation to this year”, emphasized Saraqini.
It is planned, he added, the needs of natural gas to present 309 million cubic meters and is also expected for 8,1 percent larger consumption of oil derivates and growth of the import of crude oil of 335.000 tons on 560.000 tons. The needs of coal and lignite are planned at level of 7,9 million tons or for 3,5 percent more in relation to 2012.
Ratko Manov from GA-MA emphasized that TE-TO this year caused the largest problems in the transportation system of the gas.
“The regulator acknowledged the predictions for the needs of TE-TO and reduced the price of the gas for 100 percent during the last two years. With that GA-MA become insolvent and had to take credit for the maintenance of the system”, stated Manov and added that instead the envisaged 350 million cubic meters of gas in the system were transported only 66 million.
In the future he requested not to be integrated wishes of the consumers in the energy balance and the consumers to pay for the transmission of the quantities of gas that will be imported for the other consumers not to suffer.
“I appeal all of the larger consumers to give real data for the consumption of gas and not desires that the Regulator then takes to consideration and calculate in the price of the gas”, stated Manov.
Problems in the fulfillment of the prescribed generation, transfer and distribution of electricity do not expect ELEM, MEPSO and EVN Macedonia which from the next year will be engaged for the import of electricity that lacks in the system.
The representatives of OKTA and Makpetrol pointed that they do not expect problems in the supply of their consumers with oil derivates and added that during the last period increases the consumption of diesel for the account of the benzenes. They requested increase of the excises for the extra light oil for the households and to approximate the price of the diesel DV in order to prevent the malpractices. From Makpetrol announced that during the next year they will focus of bigger application of the fluid oil gas and methane.
