EBRD: Tender notice for Komani HPP Dam Safety Project

Korporata Elektroenergjitike Shqiptare sh.a (KESH) intends using the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the amount of up to EUR 12.7 million.  The loan will constitute part of the overall investment programme of up to EUR 63 million, parallel financed by the World Bank, Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW).
The financing will enable the KESH to fund its investment into the Komani hydropower dam.  This investment is part of the urgent investment measures aimed at strengthening of the dam safety at the Drin and Mat River Cascades of hydropower plants, which are responsible for 95 per cent of the Albanian electricity production
The proposed project will require the procurement of the following packages (funded through EBRD loan proceeds):
* Rockfall Protection Measures for Komani Hydropower Plant
* Dam toe and left bank scour area
Prequalification process for the above contracts is expected to begin in the 2nd quarter of 2012.
Contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank will be subject to the Bank’s Procurement Policies and Rules and will be open to firms from any country. The proceeds of the Bank’s loan will not be used for the purpose of any payment to persons or entities, of for any import of goods, if such payment or import is prohibited by a decision of the United Nations Security Council taken under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations or under a law of official regulation of the Purchaser’s country.
