Spectrum Interview on the Survey in Offshore Croatia

IRN: The Ministry of Economy of Croatia has just awarded you a license to conduct a seismic survey offshore around countries in the Adriatic Sea. What can this seismic survey add to currently available information on this subject?

David Rowlands, Executive Vice President Multi-Client, EAME, Spectrum Geo Ltd:
“We are now conducting a modern 2D seismic survey and will collect data from offshore Croatia that will later be interpreted by us and give enough indications about the existence of hydrocarbons in the region. This new data will enable oil and gas companies to evaluate additional hydrocarbon leads and prospects in offshore Croatia.”.

IRN: In the last year, you have been chosen to conduct several seismic surveys in completely different regions around the globe, including Brazil, Lebanon and now Croatia. What made you choose Croatia as an area to explore?

David Rowlands, Executive Vice President Multi-Client, EAME, Spectrum Geo Ltd:
“The Croatian Adriatic Sea is mainly unlicensed at present, which means there are no oil companies holding exploration licenses. The Croatian Ministry of Economy wants to attract new companies to invest in and our data will enable these companies to evaluate the prospects. This could mean opportunities for many oil companies as offshore Croatia is currently underexplored.”

IRN: Can you give us any indications about the amount of oil and gas prospects that are currently lying below the seabed?

David Rowlands, Executive Vice President Multi-Client, EAME, Spectrum Geo Ltd:
“For now, we don’t have many indications, which is the whole purpose for the survey. The seismic survey started on 9th September and after we collect data, process and then interpret it, we will have some good indications.”

IRN: Will you give us an overview of your presentation at the 2nd Balkans Oil & Gas Summit, taking place in a couple of weeks?

David Rowlands, Executive Vice President Multi-Client, EAME, Spectrum Geo Ltd:
“At the 2nd Balkans Oil & Gas Summit, we will of course present on the project that we are currently undertaking offshore Croatia, giving an outline of the subsurface geology, which will demonstrate to oil and gas companies why Offshore Croatia should be of interest to them.”
