CEZ: “Millions for companies with government ties”

The Socialist Parliament Member, Erjon Brace, reported the bad management of “CEZ Distribution Company while led by the Czech managers.

Brace published a report planned by the Energy Regulation Entity, which states that other companies which have ties with the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, have profited more than 1.5 million EUR in total for collecting bad debts accumulated by the government.

“A report that the Energy Regulation Entity had and did not made public shows the names of some Czech and Albanian companies that have profited 23% to 54% of every bill collected by them until january 2013”, Brace declared.

For Brace, these are not the only companies which have ties with the Albanian government and the Czech Companies, and that have profited millions for their services to CEZ.

“No one knows what these companies have done for receiving millions of EUR from CEZ. Consults, other marketing relations, purchases”, Brace asked.

Another concern, according to Brace, is the lack of transparency as regards the current energy balance.

“The report shows that for three months, from April to June, CEZ has not fulfilled the agreement to buy energy in order to cover the losses in the network, which keep being very high. The loss for the first five months is 46%. By referring to numbers one can see that the energy that is lost in the network is bigger than what has been sold to consumers”, Brace stated.

Brace says that the Energy Regulation Entity is responsible for making transparency on the energy balance. He claims that this is a corruptive scheme that damages the Albanian citizens.

“The finances of this company have been one of the key elements for establishing the energy prices through the Energy Regulation Entity. The Albanian citizens must know that they have not paid just the energy they have consumed during these months, but also losses in the network”, Brace added.
