Albania-Macedonia power transmission line to receive loan
A draft law on the support for the power sector has been submitted to the Parliament, with the aim of increasing the electricity transmission capacity.
The draft provides for the granting of a loan for the project “400 kV transmission line Albania – Macedonia (Fier-Elbasan-Qafë Thane)”.
This project includes a number of key points:
Construction of a new line 400 Kv, Elbasan 2 – Bitola
Expansion of the 400 Kv Elbasan 2substation
Construction of a new 400 kV line, Elbasan 2 – Fier
Expansion of the 220 kV Fier substation
The loan amounting to 50 million euros will be given to the Transmission System Operator sh.a. This amount will be divided into two installments: a 30m-euro installment and a 20m-euro installment.
This loan will be used for investments in the electricity transmission infrastructure for the above-mentioned project, part of the East-West corridor.
Therefore, a direct connection of energy systems will be established between Albania and Macedonia.
