Devoll Hydropower signs Civil Works contract with Limak-AGE Joint Venture

Devoll Hydropower Sh.A. announced on 25 July that has signed the Civil Works contract, with the Limak-AGE Joint Venture. The contract includes civil works for the Banjë and Moglicë hydropower plants. The works are expected to start end of 2013 and finish by 2019.
The Devoll hydropower project consists of three hydropower plants in the Devoll valley, with an installed capacity of approx. 280 MW. On average the power plants will produce approx. 800 GWh annually, increasing the Albanian electricity production by approx. 20 per cent.
The civil works will consist mainly in building the dam body, access roads, excavation works, grunting, river diversion, building of spillways and tunnels for Moglicë and Banja HPPs. The investment decision for the third plant, Kokël, will be considered when the first two plants are completed.
The Civil Works contract, signed with the Limak-AGE Joint Venture, is one of several contracts Devoll Hydropower Sh.A. has signed in order to carry out this large hydropower project in Albania.
Other important contracts awarded are those of Hydraulic and Electro-Mechanical works, signed with the international company Alstom. The contract for the 110kV and 220kV transmission line signed with Doko. The Owner’s Engineer contract signed with a joint venture between Mott Macdonald and Coyne et Bellier. The contract of Owner’s Design is awarded to AF- Consult Switzerland Ltd.
