ARMO employees sign petition stating their requests

For the fifth consecutive day, over three thousand employees of the refineries of Ballsh and Fier, part of the ARMO company, who are not allowed to work due to the unprecedented blockage and without any legal basis, have continued their peaceful protest at the front doors refinery of Fier.

Determined more than ever, the employees say that they will pursue every legal and democratic step in order to make their voices heard by specific state instances, which up to this point have not reacted.

For this reason, as the first step of the escalation of their peaceful protest, ARMO workers and its leaders have signed a petition which was officially sent to incumbent Prime Minister Sali Berisha, the prospect Prime Minister Edi Rama, the Ministry of Finance and its structures and all the diplomatic corps accredited in the country.

The petition lists the requirements of the five days of protests of the ARMO employees, who are making a reality their commitment to stay together and to protest until the problem is settled.

The petition was read before protesting workers and before all the present media, by the Director of Deep Oil Processing Plant in Ballsh, Aurel Stavre, and among other things it contains a request for the removal of tax investigation officers from the refinery gates, unlocking of the ARMO company bank accounts, reviewing relevant taxes which have made it impossible for the normal functioning of this giant of Albanian industry since its privatization.

From their part, employees say that they have petition signed with full awareness as a step to make even more powerful their voice and their determination to resolve this dead-end situation.

Meanwhile, the protest of ARMO workers will officially continue on Thursday when employees, who have connected their lives with this company, are expected to convene in front of the Fier District prefecture office to ask for their requirements to be met.
