Drought prompts OSHEE to spend record money

Albania’s Electricity Distribution Operator OSHEE has provided the required energy for December, while the sum spent amounts to 27.8m euros.

Referring to an OSHEE report, the price with which the company has secured the largest amount is significantly higher than that of the previous month, as over 222,000 Mw/H were purchased at a price of 93.36 euros, from 75.98 euros paid in November.

Long-term drought and rising consumption due to the winter season forced the distribution operator to increase its demand for the last month of the year, while this was accompanied by one of the most expensive bills for this year.

Meanwhile, since July, the amount spent on energy purchases only by the Distribution Operator amounts to 107.7 million euros.

But, if we add the costs for December then the bill goes to 135.5 million euros.

So far, the Council of Ministers has made 2 financial moves to cope with the energy crisis by allocating ALL 3 billion from the state budget and by approving a 1 billion ALL loan for November and December purchases.
