EU allocates 14 mln euro to TAP route

European Commission will allocate 14 million euro for the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline. This fund will be used for research in archaeological areas, thus ensuring their protection from construction works for the TAP pipeline that will transport gas from Azerbaijan to Western Europe through Albania.

In total, EU member states have agreed to fund European Commission projects for an amount of 444 million euro.

In total there are 18 projects, defined as a priority for the union, and TAP is singled out as one of them.

A few days ago, the Vice President of the European Commission stated that the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, as part of the Southern Gas Stream, is a key priority for the European Union, since it guarantees energy stability through diversification.

Among other things, the European Union emphasized that the completion of the project within the planned time-frame, 2020, is of particular importance to the union.

On Thursday, the third meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Southern Gas Stream is expected to be held in Baku Azerbaijan.

The Ministerial will be attended by representatives of Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey as well as representatives from the United Kingdom and the United States.
