Energy Balance in Albania during I semester of 2013
Instat presented yesterday the energy balance in Albania during the first six months of 2013.
Production
Electric power derived from all sources during the first half year of 2013, increased by 33 percent compared with the same period of 2012.
The domestic production of electric power increased by 89.2 percent compared with the first half year 2012.
In the first half year 2013, electric power produced is 3,959 GWh equal to 78.5 percent of total quantity of electric power.
Hydro plants production increased about 92.3 percent giving the main impact on total domestic production.
Hydro power plant production during this half year covered 94 percent of total domestic production. The production of energy by concession and private plants increased by 50.6 percent compared with the same period of the previous year. Thermo plants during the first six months of 2013 had no production.
Import
Import (including exchanges) of electric power is 1,081 GWh in the first six months of year 2013 while in the same period of 2012 was 1,706 GWh.
The imported quantity (including exchanges) is equal to 21.4 percent of the total quantity of derived energy during first half year 2013 from 44.9 percent of first half year 2012.
Losses
Total losses decreased by 4.6 percent during the six first months of 2013 compared with the same period of the previous year. The quantity of total losses in the first half year 2013 is 1,774 GWh. The total losses are 37.2 percent of the quantity available for final use. Losses in distribution are in 93 percent of the total losses in network.
Consumption
Consumption by users increased by 14.1 percent compared with the first half year 2012. Its quantity attained to 1,991 GWh equal to 41.8 percent of the total electric power available for use.
Electric power consumed by residential sector increased by 13.5 percent compared with the quantity consumed in the first half year 2013. This sector has consumed 59.2 percent of the quantity available for all final users. Electric power consumed by other users increased by 15.1 percent in the first half year 2013 compared with the same period of previous year.
