SEWRC to take away the licence of CEZ power distribution company

“Licence of CEZ power distribution company will be taken away today,” Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced speaking at a press conference in Sofia, FOCUS News Agency reporter informed.
The press conference is focused on front-burner issues of the day. It is attended by Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, Lilyana Pavlova, Minister of EU Funds Absorption Tomislav Donchev, and Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Delyan Dobrev.
“The three power distribution companies were fined today. The license of CEZ power distributor will be taken away later on today,” Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced speaking at a press conference.
“All political powers in the parliament should elect an entirely new body or two-thirds of the body of the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (SEWRC),” the prime minister informed.
Borisov said he undertook the engagement for 50% of the quota of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB) to come from citizen’s organisations. He appealed to the rest of the political parties to do the same.
“Amendments to the public procurements act has been already filed at parliament,” he added.
In prime minister’s words, the Criminal Police has much work to do. He added that there were many electric meters that had been manipulated.
Bulgaria’s Supreme Administrative Prosecutor’s Office will propose the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (SEWRC) to take away the licence of CEZ power distribution company, announced Prosecutor Georgi Kamburov, who took part in the check on the activities of the SEWRC, speaking at a press conference, FOCUS News Agency reporter informed.
At the background of the check carried out by the Supreme Administrative Prosecutor’s Office there was a request for the report worked out by the Public Financial Inspection Agency (PFIA). On the grounds of this report, it has been ascertained that CEZ power distribution company has been systematically getting round the rules for organisation of public procurements.
“It has been ascertained that during the replacement of the electric meters the company has missed to issue written statement of ascertainment on what needs to be replaced and what has been already replaced.
Several checks have been ordered for the SEWRC to carry out and one of them reports violation in the replacement of electric meters,” the prosecutor added.
“The prosecutor’s office judges that the law has been violated and with the proposals we have made we make the SEWRC observe the law and act in line with the law.”
If the energy watchdog misses to implement the recommendations, the competent authorities will be addressed over the case. There will be a proposal for initiating a criminal procedure and the Council of Ministers will be addressed, too.

It is expected by the end of the day after a meeting of the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (SEWRC), to be announced the details on the procedure for license withdrawal of CEZ power distribution company, press centre of the state Regulator announced.
